TigerDirect Giving Away 77 Windows

I received an email from TigerDirect about a new contest giving away 77 new Windows 7 PCs over 77 days. You have to enter each day to have a chance of winning one for that day. That would make a great affiliate campaign so I signed up, but, alas, I could find no reference to the contest from my TigerDirect affiliate page. Searching on the site produces no search results for the contest, either. So here is my shortened, but not affiliated, link to the contest entry: http://budurl.com/TGS77pcs. It’s shortened because the full link is too long, and I get to, at least, count how many of you click on the link to guage if any of you are taking advantage of the opportunity. I want one of those systems, so I have been reentering everyday as they suggest. Meanwhile, I now have a new affiliate link to a great service though it has been a bit frustrating to get that link. Maybe I can save you from that frustration.

They use a broad affiliate service, LinkShare, where I had to do some searching to find their program for TigerDirect. I found it and applied for LinkShare affiliate status which came through quickly, then TigerDirect affilate status. TigerDirect said to simply put their code on your site and you are in, but what LinkShare and TigerDirect don’t tell you is, it takes a day or so to get approval before you get access to that code. I wasted considerable time looking for code I could not access. Finally I emailed LinkShare support which told me, a day alter, I was awaiting approval.

This is a common practice, but I find it uncommon not to be informed of the practice and how long it takes. I informed them of that.

Putting the code in my WordPress blog is not as straight forward as it seems. Rather than searching through CSS code to find a place to install the affiliate banner code picking through 8 pages of banners, I simply gleaned from the code my affiliate URL, had it shortened in BudURL, stuck that in the WordPress “add a link” form for the URL, and then the banner image  URL in the WP form. Adding a description that you see when you hover over the link, and clicked on the “add link” button. Checking the blog I saw the image and saw that it was linkable. Testing the link proved the link was good.

A few words about TigerDirect. I’ve been receiving their daily email for many years always being temped by a new monitor or power packed system. It’s a great source for staying up on what’s new at what pricing. I recommend TigerDirect and look forward to their daily emails. Now as an affiliate I may make some money from them as well. I’ll probably spend it on their products. If you win a Windows 7 PC, please, let me know.

Fantastic, John! Someone actually won one of those cool PCs from TigerDirect. I re-enrolled everyday, but to no avail. Let me know, please, how long it takes you to receive your prize and what you think of it and TigerDirect. Thanks for letting us know.

Well I too have entered each day and I see the contest has now expired. I certainly was not a winner and I entered both on Comp USA and Tiger Direct daily, so I guess either there were a lot of entries or there really were no winners.

Nancy, I checked the Tiger Direct winners everyday and they were listed. Neither you or I were on the list. I certainly could have used one of those machines! Drat!
